All of the doctors at Tooronga Family Medical are experienced health professionals who are committed to providing a high standard of medical care. They have a genuine interest in ongoing, continuing professional education as well as evidence-based medicine. Instead of just dealing with a single episode of illness, our doctors are also keen to provide holistic as well as preventive health care.

 
 

DR ELAINE LIEW

MBBS, LLB, FRACGP

Dr Elaine Liew graduated in 2005 with a double degree in Medicine & Law from Monash University.  She holds a fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Elaine is also an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Elaine Liew worked for several years at Harp Family Medical in Kew East. At the start of 2017, Elaine finally fulfilled her dream of starting a medical practice in her local neighbourhood.

As a full-time female GP at Tooronga Family Medical,  Dr Elaine Liew loves all areas of general practice.  She has a special interest in children, adolescent and women’s health. Dr Elaine Liew is surgically competent, and thoroughly enjoys all types of procedures ranging from skin cancer surgeries to Intrauterine Device (IUD) and hormonal rod implant insertions. Dr Elaine Liew is also an accredited shared care practitioner and affiliated with all of the public hospitals providing maternity care within Melbourne: Monash HealthEastern HealthMercy Hospital for Women, Royal Women’s Hospital, Western Health, Northern Health, and Peninsula Health.

When Elaine is not at Tooronga Family Medical, you will find her at a reformer pilates class or running around after her two young children.

DR ANDREW LIEW

MBBS, MFMC (Monash), MGPPsych (Monash)

Dr Andrew Liew graduated from Medicine with a full Asean scholarship from the National University of Singapore. He has masters degrees in Family Medicine, and General Practice Psychiatry from Monash University. Dr Andrew Liew is vocationally registered.

For over thirty years, Dr Andrew Liew & his wife (now a retired GP) ran a successful medical practice in Rockhampton, Queensland.  He moved to Melbourne to spend more time with his family but found that as a retiree, he missed patient contact. As a result, Andrew worked part-time at Kew Junction Medical Clinic for 3 years. In January 2017, Dr Andrew Liew joined his daughter to help start Tooronga Family Medical.

Dr Andrew Liew is a highly skilled doctor in all aspects of general practice. He has special interests in children’s health, preventive medicine, palliative care, mental health, men’s health, travel medicine as well as dermatology.

Andrew thoroughly enjoys playing golf at Green Acres Golf Club. He is a regular gym enthusiast and has recently taken up cycling.

Dr Liew is multilingual.  In addition to Mandarin, he is also fluent in Hakka as well as Hokkien.

DR FIONA COLLINS

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Fiona Collins graduated from Monash University in 2005. She then undertook her postgraduate training in General Practice and attained her fellowship with The Royal Australian College of General Practice in 2012. Dr Fiona has spent time working in specialist fields at Box Hill Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and St James’ Hospital in Dublin.  

Dr Fiona Collins has special interests in women’s health, family and children’s medicine, preventative care and chronic disease management. However, she enjoys the opportunity to manage a full breadth of medical conditions and get to know patients and their families and to deliver personalised care. She is committed to working together with her patients, empowering them to take ownership of their health and motivating them to optimise their lifestyle to avoid preventative illness.

Dr Fiona Collins is qualified to provide shared maternity care. Fiona delivers shared care with Royal Women’s Hospital and Mercy Hospital for Women.

Dr Fiona Collins performs minor procedures such as hormonal rod insertion and removal, injury management, and skin cancer removal.

Dr Fiona looks forward to getting to know the patients of Tooronga Family Medical and their families.

Fiona enjoys relaxing with her young family, jogging, playing hockey and spoiling her dog.

DR ERIC SO

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Eric So completed his medical degree at The University of Melbourne in 2001 and holds a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)

After graduating, Dr Eric So gained valuable experience in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. He has worked for many years within the Alfred Health and Monash Health hospital networks, as well as hospitals across country Victoria. 

Before joining his family at Tooronga Family Medical, Dr Eric So has been working in General Practices in Mt Eliza, North Balwyn and Vermont. 

Known for his big friendly smile and caring attitude, Eric enjoys all aspects of general practice, particularly acute medicine, children’s health, preventive medicine, men’s health and small procedures

Eric was born in Hong Kong and is fluent in both English and Cantonese. 

In his spare time, Dr Eric So enjoys cooking, photography, cycling, motorsports, as well as spending time with his wife and two young kids. He does a lot of housework too!

DR SARAH HUME

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Sarah Hume graduated from Monash University in 1998. She then trained at Monash Medical Centre, Austin Health, and Northern Health before completing her General Practice Fellowship in 2007.

Dr Sarah Hume has worked in the Hawthorn area for the past 15 years, enjoying the connection to patients and their families.

Dr Sarah Hume is happy seeing all the different presentations that general practice has to offer but has a particular interest in adolescent and women’s health, skin checks and minor skin procedures, aged care and palliative care. She is strongly committed to preventative health and chronic disease management.

Dr Sarah Hume also works 3 days per week as an aged care GP in an aged care facility in the local area

In her spare time, Sarah plays taxi driver to her 4 kids, enjoys reading, pilates, hiking, travelling, and supporting the Melbourne Football Club.

DR SILVAN LEE

MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG, Dip Child Health

Dr Silvan Lee graduated from Medicine at Monash University in 2008 and completed residencies at the Austin and Northern Hospitals. While pursuing further training in general practice, she obtained her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2011 through the Royal Women’s Hospital.

Silvan obtained her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practice in 2013 and received her Diploma of Child Health through the Sydney Children’s Network. After practicing at The Hills Medical in Olinda, she extended her experience and range of skills by moving to Sydney and also became proficient in aesthetic medicine, in particular, minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.

Although Silvan enjoys the many facets of general practice, she has a special interest in women’s health, antenatal care, family planning and paediatric health. Her aesthetics background offers an additional opportunity for her patients to discuss options to help build self-assurance.

In her empathetic, reassuring and supportive manner, Silvan encourages the development of excellent rapport. She advocates a collaborative approach towards patient centred holistic care, as she believes this is key to fostering greater understanding of health, and motivates her patients to be confident to take steps towards optimising and improving their wellbeing.

She is keen to share her knowledge with the community and aids in the education of GP trainees through her work as an RACGP OSCE examiner.

Now in Melbourne, Silvan is mother to two adorable bunnies for whom she has always dreamed of being able to grow a successful vegetable garden. Her mission for the future is to master playing the piano, but in the meantime, her poor husband will have to put up with her terrible practising.

DR SARAH LATREILLE

MBBS, FRACGP, MPHTM, DCH

Dr Sarah Latreille graduated from Monash University in 2005 and holds a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General practitioners (RACGP). Sarah has worked in a wide variety of settings, from inner city to remote Arnhem Land. Sarah enjoys all aspects of general practice, in particular getting to know her patients so she can provide optimal care and medical advice and also being a family GP

Dr Sarah Latreille is experienced in children’s health, having worked at the ‘GP@theKids’ clinic located at the Royal Children’s Hospital and also having attained a Diploma of Child Health (The University of Sydney). She is familiar with the ‘Possums Neurodevelopmental Care approach’ to infant care. Her favourite part of seeing children is the challenge of making them feel comfortable and relaxed in her presence.

Dr Sarah Latreille enjoys all aspects of preventative health, and has developed a lifestyle program to help her patients achieve goals such as smoking cessation, weight loss and improvement in wellbeing.

Dr Sarah Latreille performs minor procedures such as hormonal rod insertion and removal, and wound management.

While not at work, Sarah is busy wrangling her three young children or going to a yoga or pilates class. In a previous life she loved playing sport and hanging out at the beach.

Availability
Dr Sarah Latreille is currently on sabbatical in Karratha, Western Australia, helping the local Indigenous community. She intends on returning to Tooronga Family Medical in 2025.
