Childhood vaccinations
Our Tooronga Family Medical doctors provide childhood immunisations as per the Australian Childhood Immunisation Schedule. All vaccinations administered at Tooronga Family Medical are uploaded to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) on a daily basis.
As of the 1st February 2023, all vaccinations, including childhood vaccination appointments with our doctors will be charged privately. As an alternative, local councils provide free vaccination clinics for children and pharmacies stock government whooping cough vaccinations.
Travel Health
Tooronga Family Medical general practitioners provide travel advice that is tailored specifically for your trip.
Vaccinations are performed on site by your doctor and usually can be performed on the same day as your consultation (pending availability of stock), providing efficient and comprehensive care.
Please note that some vaccines require a course over weeks or months so it is best to contact us at least 4-6 weeks prior to planned departure. Please let our reception staff know which countries you will be travelling to at the time of booking. A long appointment is required for most travel consultations.
Tooronga Family Medical is an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
Care Plans
Chronic Disease Management Plan
You may be eligible for a GP Management Plan if you have a chronic medical issue. A plan ensures that all facets of your medical condition are taken care of. If your medical condition involves at least three providers, you may be eligible for a Team Care Arrangement (previously known as the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program). Team Care Arrangements entitle you to 5 individual Medicare rebatable sessions with an allied health practitioner each calendar year.
Feel free to have a chat with your doctor to see if this plan is appropriate for your care.
Mental Health Care Plan
If you require the services of a clinical or consultant psychologist, our Tooronga Family Medical doctors can assist you with Mental Health Care Plans and Reviews. Dr Andrew Liew has a Masters degree in General Practice Psychiatry from Monash University, and Dr Elaine Liew, Dr Eric So, Dr Silvan Lee & Dr Sarah Latreille have completed requisite post-graduate mental health skills training for patients to be eligible for MBS item numbers 2715, 2717 & 2712.
Please note that Dr Fiona Collins and Dr Sarah Hume also perform Mental Health Care Plans to be eligible under item numbers 2700, 2701 & 2712.
A plan entitles you to up to 6 individual Medicare rebatable sessions with a psychologist. A review following the initial plan then entitles you to an additional 4 sessions if required per calendar year.
Mental Health Care Plans and Reviews require longer appointments.
